I provide comprehensive assessment services for pre-school, school aged children, young adults, and adults. These comprehensive assessments can provide insights into learning style, strengths and weaknesses, and the presence of giftedness, learning disabilities, ADHD, or other difficulties. Specifically, these assessments can measure cognitive ability, achievement, executive functioning (e.g., problem solving, planning, working memory, attention), and social/emotional development. Information will be collected through interview, observation, completion of behavior rating scales, and completion of standardized assessments.
Process:
- email or call me to set up an initial appointment
- I am better able to communicate over email, however, please note that email is not guaranteed to be a confidential form of communication.
- Schedule an initial meeting (60-90 minutes) with parents only during which we will discuss the evaluation process, complete a consent form and release forms, and complete an interview where parents will be asked to describe their child’s strengths and specific difficulties. If applicable, parents are invited to bring copies of a current or past Individual Education Plan (IEP). Parents will also complete the child intake form and the privacy form.
- Schedule two meetings for me to meet individually with the child to complete the testing. This generally takes 4 to 5 hours total. For comprehensive evaluations, it is usually easier to break this up into two meetings. Each meeting will incorporate breaks whenever the child needs one (e.g., for snacks or lunch). In addition, during the testing time we will take breaks to play games or draw in order for the child to maintain focus and attention. If you wish, feel free to bring snacks for your child.
- Schedule a follow-up meeting to take place three to four weeks after the testing is complete. During this time we will review the results and go over the comprehensive report. This is generally completed with the parents, but depending on their age, can include children.
Fees:
- Comprehensive evaluations generally vary in terms of length. They will include time for interviewing parents, the child, contacting collateral sources when indicated, reviewing records, completing the assessment measures, scoring and interpreting the measures, writing a report summarizing the findings, and meeting with parents to discuss the results. My fee is $150 per hour. In general, due to the time required to complete them, comprehensive evaluations cost $1800 to $2850. I will discuss an estimated cost for the assessment before beginning the assessment.
- I am in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Please note that insurance may not cover all my services (e.g. educational/achievment testing) and/or the charges may be applied to your deductible. It may be helpful for you to contact your insurance company about your coverage for psychological and educational testing. If you have other insurance, I can provide an itemized bill for you to submit to your insurance company. However, there is no guarantee insurance will cover my services.
- A deposit will be due at the end of the first meeting and a final payment will be due on the last meeting. I accept cash, credit card, and check.
